Mt. Bruche - 3rd June 2017

This walk will be a little different to many Boots 'n' All walks. We will be climbing a high hill on some private farming property and, if the weather is good, gaining nice views of the midlands area east of Tunbridge. To get there we will follow the Midland Highway through Tunbridge (95 km and a little over an hour from Launceston) and then a further 5 km south to Woodbury where we will head east onto Glen Morey Road. We will travel about 10 km along this road until we reach the property. We have permission to access the farm and will drive across it to park as close as we can to the peak. Although the farm roads are not difficult to drive on, higher clearance vehicles such as SUVs or 4WDs would be preferable. We will then begin the walk, heading northeast across farmland and climb about 200m height over grassy slopes to reach the top, at an altitude of 504m. It is not a long walk - only about 2 km, which should not take more than one hour each way. It is also not a difficult walk, though there is no track and the surface will therefore be uneven in places. It does involve a significant climb so some basic fitness is required. If there is time, interest and energy, and the weather is suitable, we might visit some other lookout points on the way home. Even so it should not be a late arrival back in Launceston.
This easier walk should be suitable for families with younger but energetic and resilient children.
A further enticement... Your leader thinks there will be time for a coffee break at one of Campbell Town's better establishments!
