Greens Beach to West Head - Sat. 22nd June 2019

Don't let the winter weather get the better of you! In some ways, Tasmania's outdoor scenery is even more beautiful in the winter sunshine (*not guaranteed but we hope!) This walk is a good stretch at 5 km each way, but easy enough because of mostly level tracks along this lovely coastal walk.
Walk route:
The walk begins at the Green's Beach shop, perhaps with a leisurely coffee if you arrive a little ahead of the meeting time, and follows the coast north, then west, then north, then west, then north, then west again, to the tip of West Head. Two smaller beaches are passed on the way, with opportunities to rest or explore at various places.
The walk is on gravelled paths (called Pebbly Beach track), but not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. Rated as "easy", this walk is suitable for inexperienced walkers, although moderate fitness will be required because of the distance. It is suitable for children.
Not really the season for swimming, but there will be time to relax on the beaches and hopefully catch some sunshine.

Meeting Times and Places:
If you are interested in going on this walk, please phone Chris Langerak, Ph. 6330 2131 or 0409 808152  to book in.  to book in. Please meet opposite the Green's Beach shop at 9:30 am. If you need transport, please discuss with Chris, who may be able to arrange for one of the other walkers to pick you up. Even though this is an easy and relaxed walk, it is still helpful to contact the walk leader per details above if intending to walk. The leader should be notified of any other people you intend to bring along. Please be at any meeting place 5 minutes ahead of departure time.

To access this area from northern Tasmania:
To access the walk from Launceston, From Launceston, follow the West Tamar Highway through Riverside and continue to Beaconsfield (50 km). Take the Greens Beach Rd. (turn left near northern end of town) and continue past Yorktown and Kelso to Greens Beach (a further 10 km). There is usually plenty of parking available opposite the shop, where the walk will start.

Warnings:
No particular warnings, but make sure you have clothing suitable for cold and perhaps windy weather. A good raincoat and beanie are recommended, as well as durable shoes. Well made sneakers should be fine. Please carry a drink - we suggest 750ml to 1 litre, even if the day is cool.
